Is sleep apnea compromising your rest?

Is sleep apnea compromising your rest?

Tired of waking up without feeling rested and energised?

Sleep wellness is a priority

Chronic fatigue, zero energy, alarm clock on repeat, dragging yourself out of bed, depending on multiple cups of coffee to get you through life… if you’re familiar with this scenario and all you crave is a good night’s sleep and waking up ready to conquer your day, then you may be suffering from sleep apnea and if you are, it’s definitely something you must look into.

What is sleep apnea?

It is a fairly common sleep disorder during which breathing repeatedly stops and starts – sound serious? That’s because it is. When an adult or a child suffers from sleep apnea their breathing is interrupted and/or becomes abnormal multiple times during sleep. In addition to compromising your restorative sleeping hours and negatively affecting your daily life, sleep apnea affects the body’s oxygen supply, which in turn can originate other health issues such as:

If you’re snoring, you may have sleep apnea

Snoring is not normal, nor is it something that some people simply experience – in addition to deeply impacting your most personal relationships, it can also negatively impact your health. More often than not, snoring is a breathing symptom linked to a sleep disorder that can range from upper airway resistance to obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The severity of this syndrome depends on how much the airway is blocked (degree of airway obstruction) and on the location of that blockage.

In other words, stay aware. Preventing sleep apnea is staying healthy. If left undiagnosed and untreated, sleep apnea can evolve into a very complex disturbance, so consider the following as potential warning signs:

  • Loud snoring (that may also be keeping your partner up!)
  • Breathing pauses during sleep
  • Gasping for air during sleep
  • Choking or snorting sounds during sleep
  • Waking up with a dry mouth and/or sore throat
  • Waking up with a headache
  • Insomnia (difficulty staying asleep)
  • Hypersomnia (excessive daytime sleepiness)
  • Difficulty concentrating while awake
  • Irritability/Impatience

Sleep Therapy is a new level of wellness

Sleep is essential. We simply can’t say that enough, and that’s why Sleep Therapy is such an important part of White Clinic’s holistic and 360º approach to general health, wellbeing and longevity.

Our sleep is constantly being compromised, which in turn compromises our daily life.
We easily accept the fact that we’re poor sleepers, unlucky snorers and simply have bad nights. What we need to do is question why we’re not getting the shut-eye we deserve, and understand if sleep apnea is the culprit.

What does oral healthcare have to do with sleep?
Everything.

Dentistry plays a fundamental role in assessing and treating sleep apnea and snoring. We are proud to be pioneers in Sleep Therapy in Portugal: thanks to advanced technology and years of experience, our carefully constructed sleep device and closely monitored treatment protocol has helped hundreds of patients get their restorative sleep back, put a stop to uncontrollable snoring and prevent sleep apnea from reoccurring. They’re sleeping easy again.

STEP 1

360º Sleep Apnea Diagnosis

Book your sleep consultation with White Clinic and get ready to discuss your case in-depth, backed by a specific sleep apnea questionnaire. This first consultation to diagnose sleep apnea also includes a 3D craniofacial and the incredible nasal airway CBCT (Cone Beam Computer Tomography), an intraoral scan, photographs and a simple at-home sleep test. Our entire workflow is digital and precise, so we have a clear view of your unique case right from the start.

STEP 2

Case Analysis

With our preliminary research done, all the information collected is sent to our partner Dr. Shouresh Charkhandeh in Canada for his own analysis. Our team and Dr. Charkhandeh, a world-renowned researcher and innovator in dental sleep medicine, then sit down for a conference call where your case is assessed and the best treatment plan for your specific sleep apnea diagnosis is outlined. True international team effort.

STEP 3

Treatment
Plan

During your second consultation, we will discuss your diagnosis and sleep apnea treatment recommendation. We work with the most advanced Mandibular Advancement Device on the market, manufactured in the USA, by 3D printed nylon and BPA free. In order to fit you for your customised sleep apnea fighting device, we’ll proceed with a more detailed intraoral scan of your mouth, so we can obtain the mould necessary to design a mouth piece that is 100% tailored to you.

STEP 4

Customisation of your sleep device

You will have your own personalised sleep device, a comprehensive 100% digital solution for deep sleep. This high-tech Mandibular Advancement Device is totally adapted to your jaw biomechanics, which means that by simply pushing the jaw forward and pulling the tongue away from the back of the throat, the size of the upper airway automatically increases, reducing the air resistance that triggers snoring and sleep apnea. Completely 3D printed using CAD/CAM technology, this small and comfortable device brings with it huge benefits and effectiveness in sleep apnea treatment.

STEP 5

Follow-up Consultation

We’ll see you in 4 weeks to re-evaluate. During and after that period, we’re always available for any questions or concerns you may have, supporting you throughout the first 6 months of your new sleep apnea treatment and at the end of which we’ll once again run our easy sleep test to evaluate the treatment results so far and outline the steps necessary to continue getting a good night’s sleep, every night.

Sleep is wellness.
Wellness is a good night’s rest.

get the best of you

When our sleep quality is undermined night after night, the bags under our eyes won’t be the only telltale sign: chronic fatigue, headaches, difficulty concentrating, memory issues, depression, mood swings, weight gain, lethargy and even mental disturbances will also make the list.

Restorative sleep
is what you need

Sleep plays an important role in our physical health. Sleep is involved in a variety of physiological processes, such as healing, and repair of heart and blood vessels. There is enough scientific information indicating how sleep deprivation can be associated with numerous diseases.

Let Advanced Biological Dentistry
