Dr. Miguel Stanley spoke at the conference “The Power of the Third Smile”

On November 20th, Dr. Miguel Stanley was the keynote speaker at the conference “The Power of the Third Smile – Oral Health and Longevity in Debate”. Organized by Médis, in partnership with Renascença, the meeting focused on how oral healthcare can contribute to healthier, more active and happier ageing.

At the conference “The Power of the Third Smile”, the study “The Relationship between Oral Health and Quality of Life of the Elderly Population in Portugal” was presented. Developed by Médis, in partnership with Fórum Saúde XXI, the study demonstrates the link between oral health and active longevity, showing how tooth loss, poor adaptation of prostheses and neglect of preventive care, for example, have a direct impact on nutrition, self-esteem and the general health of the elderly.

Dr. Miguel Stanley was the keynote speaker at this conference and his talk “From traditional to modern dentistry – the impact of evolution on the health and longevity of the Portuguese elderly population” touched on subjects such as the evolution of dentistry, the role of technology in this field, the undeniable link between oral health and systemic health, the importance of revision dentistry, the advancement of dental prostheses and, of course, the impact of oral health on quality of life and society.

In the words of our clinical director: “Good dentistry in old age is not a luxury, it’s a human right. We all deserve to grow old with dignity, comfort and the confidence of a safe smile.”
